Terms of Use

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Symwise does not diagnose, treat, or provide emergency care. In an emergency, contact local emergency services. Before any medical decision, talk with a licensed professional.

1. Agreement

These terms cover your use of the Symwise iPhone app and related services. Creating an account or using the service means you agree to these terms and the privacy policy.

2. The service

Symwise is a personal tool for learning health information. It searches open English medical references on your device, then an AI writes a readable explanation. It is not a medical device and does not replace professional medical advice.

3. Who may use it

You must be at least 14. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has agreed.

4. Account

You may sign in with Apple, Google, or a phone number checked by text message. You are responsible for the device and the account. We may suspend access if we have a reasonable basis to believe the account is being abused.

5. Subscriptions, the free period, and temporary access

6. Acceptable use

7. Limits of the content and the AI

Replies may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. When no local reference is found, the reply may be generated without that backing, and it says so. We do not guarantee third-party sources or generated text.

8. Open medical sources

Replies may quote MedlinePlus, MedQuAD, DailyMed, CDC guidance, NIH health information, and PMC open-access articles under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. Those materials stay under their own licenses. We do not claim to own them.

9. Intellectual property

The Symwise app, software, brand, and original material belong to Symwise or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal learning.

10. No warranty

The service is provided as it is. We do not promise merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Symwise and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages from relying on health information in the service.

12. Stopping

You may stop at any time. Where the law allows, we may change or stop the service, or suspend access.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. A material change is shown by updating the date above. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
